Picked up some dinner for my boyfriend and I today- let me start off by saying that this restaurant is not in the best area but please don't let this deter you from trying the food, it's so yummy! We each got the beef and lamb gyro, shared an order of Greek fries and tried out the baklava as well. The beef and lamb was full of flavor and the Greek fries were yummy as well! There was a garlic dipping sauce that was DELICIOUS. (Unsure of what it was called). It was my first time trying baklava, I was pleasantly surprised, the spices in the dessert helped freshen my breath after scarfing down the garlic sauce . The lady at the register was so kind as well!! She gave me a free fountain drink before leaving! Definitely coming here whenever I'm craving Mediterranean food! Thank you!

I reviewed Ishtar almost 4 years ago and nothing has changed. Same amazing customer service, food is always freshly prepared and delicious. I haven't ordered the lamb so I can't comment to all the complaints....they have a large menu so order something else! If you haven't tried the baba ganoush (sp?) TRY IT! It is smokey, creamy and delicious. The portions are large so I always end up with two meals out of one. We drive 30 minutes to get here and it is always worth it. All the complaining about establishments increasing tip percentages and adding miscellaneous service fees...Ishtar doesn't even have a tip line on their receipt!!! C'mon! Sure, they are in an old A&W Rootbeer drive-in, but what they lack in looks, they more than make up for in customer service and food. I have a bad habit of taking a bite or two before thinking about the pic so instead of trying to put it all back together for a photo I opted to not take one. Folks, it is very obvious when you take a bite and try to put it back together for a pic, so just go without the pic. hahahaha

Yum.. I'm not a usual Greek food eater.. but this is really good, as I hope the pictures illustrate. This is my first time at this restaurant. I consider the service good even though it was a to go order. The ambience was also good and there was no one in the seating area apparently everyone at that time of day takes to go orders. I got the Ishtar fries, kebab sandwich and lamb shawarma sandwich. Yum. All but one of the pictures are original food items..one I fancied up even more with some blue corn chips, roasted edamame dates and lots of cilantro. Just so you know I pulled some of the meat off of the two items because there was so much meat although I don't eat a lot of meat at one time. Let's just say I was very full at the end.

We stopped here on a whim when some other places were closed. We are sooo glad we did! I ordered the lemon chicken and my husband got the chicken gyro and ishtar fries. The flavors were bouncing off my tongue. You could tell everything was fresh and made with love. The sauces are fresh and made in house. The chicken was juicy and the rice is unlike anything I've ever had from gyro places. You could taste every herb in the rice.

I hadn't been here in years but tonight I got food to go - lamb & beef Iraqi style which here means with roasted vegetables and extra pita breads rather than rice. (You can also get Kebob with rice. Here their Kebobs are ground meat in 2 elongated pieces rather than cut up steak or such. But it was really tender and nicely seasoned. Not spicy. I enjoyed it and portion was big. Good with their plain yogurt drink but they also sell mint or mango yogurt drink. Currently their restrooms are kept closed and I don't blame them as it's a little sketchy neighborhood, but there's a small, clean interior dining area. Parking was right outside and has lighting so felt okay parking there. SUPER nice people at cashier and fast preparation. I barely waited ten minutes though it was a bit early for dinner. I shall be back
